Since she’s part of my blog’s name, I figured I should give you a chance to meet Schnapps. She is a two year old Miniature Schnauzer with a passionate love for food, dog parks, and squeaky toys.
You might notice she looks a little different than traditional Mini Schnauzers; she has big floppy ears and a long furry tail. Normally Schnauzers have their ears cropped and tails docked, but I think Schnapps’ give her even more personality- as if she were lacking some already.
My mom has a Mini Schnauzer named Schnitzel, so when I got Schnapps I wanted to stay within the German S names, as my last name is German and Schnauzers are as well. Therefore, we have Schnitzel and Schnapps the Schnauzers in our family. The alliteration makes my little English major heart so happy.
My goal for the summer was to get her to swim in the pond at the dog park. At the beginning of the summer, she wouldn’t even go near the water. Last month, she tentatively stepped in to get a better drink of water (ew). Today, finally, she jumped (okay, fell) in and swam for the first time! Sadly she would not let me document the occasion with photographic evidence, so you’ll have to take my word that she’s a wet, dirty dog.
I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot of this fuzzy face around here. She is a social butterfly, so she will be so very happy to meet you.
