DIY Glitter Shirt Collar

November 9, 2015

Earlier this year, I was at the Houston Livestock and Rodeo waiting for a concert to start when I saw a girl a few rows in front of me wearing a plaid flannel shirt with sequins. I’m similar to a moth- I am attracted to anything shiny. I decided I had to have a sparkly shirt like hers, so when I got home I started Googling and was dismayed when I couldn’t find one for under $50.

So I decided to make my own, and now you can make your very own too!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Collard shirt – I found this Joe’s Jeans The Shirt at Goodwill for $6!

Fabric Mod Podge
Glitter (I ended up only using one tube.)
Sponge brush
Small bowl

How to glitter your shirt:

1. Iron the collar of your shirt so you have a flat work area.

2. Mix your Mod Podge and glitter in your bowl. I used a toothpick to mix for easier cleanup.DSC01450

3. Paint your mixture on! I used a couple coats to make sure the collar is completely covered. (I’m also impatient, so I used my hairdryer on warm/low to dry in between coats.)

4. Repeat process on the front pocket if you want that glitterfied too!

That’s it! You have your very own glittered shirt, and it didn’t cost you $50.
