One of the best things about the holidays are the traditions that go along with them. Whether it’s making cookies, family outings or just sitting down to a meal together, these small rituals take on a much larger meaning. Each year, rather than Friendsgiving, Adam throws a Hanukkah party for our friends. The celebration grows as new friends and significant others join, and last year I was accepted into the fold as co-host. It has become one of my favorite traditions as he gets to share his own family traditions with us and teaches everyone something about the holiday.
This year I wanted to contribute to our decorations, mostly because there are none, by making our own Hanukkah candles for the menorah. It turned out to be so easy! I had a friend over, and we made a craft night of the project. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be Jewish to appreciate this DIY; they make great birthday candles too!
My second Stitch Fix has arrived, and my stylist Nicole nailed it! Again, I specifically asked for clothes to wear to work, especially dress pants. I appreciated that in this Fix, my stylist sent me a complete outfit to wear to work. Wait until you see the blazer in my box!
Earlier this year, I was at the Houston Livestock and Rodeo waiting for a concert to start when I saw a girl a few rows in front of me wearing a plaid flannel shirt with sequins. I’m similar to a moth- I am attracted to anything shiny. I decided I had to have a sparkly shirt like hers, so when I got home I started Googling and was dismayed when I couldn’t find one for under $50.
So I decided to make my own, and now you can make your very own too!
Are you still wondering when Instagram will roll out advertising to all businesses? (It has.) Do you wish you knew why your Facebook posts aren’t going as far as they used to? I start off every morning scouring social media websites and blogs for the latest social media changes to report to my leadership team, so we make sure we are ahead of whatever is going to be thrown at us.
I’ve put together a list of my favorite social media resources to help you keep your social media game strong.
These are a few of my favorite things…right now. I love reading about what my blogger friends love, so here’s a random list of my favorite things I am currently obsessing over.
Months ago, I sat down and filled out a Stitch Fix style profile. Then I walked away. My coworkers got their fixes and raved about the pieces they received, so I went back to the site and filled out the billing information, but I just couldn’t pull the trigger. I love shopping. I also love subscription based shopping because I LOVE surprises. Seriously, any kind of grab bag type deal, I’m all in. Even though I know stores throw all the crap they can’t sell into a bag, mark it down and call it a grab bag, I cannot resist. But I digress.
I’ve had a Birchbox subscription since the time when you had to know someone who had it and get a referral code to join. Then you had to wait a few months until they could accommodate another customer. So after repeatedly complimenting a coworker’s clothes and being told they were Stitch Fix, I bit the bullet and ordered my first fix.
Once upon a time I started a blog and then didn’t update it for a month. Whoops! Last month I started a new job as the social media specialist for Memorial Hermann Health System. I thought I knew what busy was; I was wrong. Ha!
Hey, I got a decent badge picture!
Since she’s part of my blog’s name, I figured I should give you a chance to meet Schnapps. She is a two year old Miniature Schnauzer with a passionate love for food, dog parks, and squeaky toys.
Last Wednesday I had the opportunity to model in Athleta’s Next f(IT) Girl Fashion Show & Charity Event featuring the new design collaboration between Athleta and Derek Lam 10 C. Fashion shows for the line have been popping up all over the country, and the Houston show went a step further and doubled as a benefit for Girls on the Run – Greater Houston.
